Dates: March 2, 2016 through November 29, 2016 (dates are flexible)We are a 200+ acre ranch in Ponderosa Pine forest of the Okanogan Highlands and raise goats, chickens, cattle, horses, and pigs as well as a large family garden. We have been a licensed goat dairy for 10 years and make both fresh and aged farmstead cheeses and sell at farmers’ markets. A large family garden and gleaning tree fruit in the valley as well as network with other farmers in the area round out this position. Our specialty is integrating livestock with gardening in an ecological manner. You will learn animal husbandry as well as fencing, haying, forest and silvopasture management, rotational grazing. cheesemaking, and goat milking. Our work schedule reflects the realities of living on a farm: early am chores,farm breakfast where we discuss the daily project, work on the project(s). a break where you can hike, meditate, go to the lake or just kick back, and then evening chores. One-two meals together on working days, evenings generally on own. Living quarters have own kitchen, shower, and outhouse. Contact [email protected].

For those interested in long-term possibilities, we have a log cabin (with electricity & own well) for a ranch hand position year-round, work exchange for rent. Children okay with this position and possibility of having your own animals/pets as arranged.
